Tiny Tia's world
Hello my dear readers - welcome to my world!
Here you will meet all of my friends!

Magic Tear
Tiny Tia
I am Tiny Tia!
I am the leader of our tears and our Storm Starters.
You also call them emotions.
I am rainbow coloured because our Storm Starters can be just as
colourful !
I have been around a long time...
and would like to help all of us find a way to calm down when we get upset.
Because then we can think clearer as to why the Storm Starters suddenly arrived.
Why do they trigger such a Storm within us?
Let's work out an action plan
to help be better prepared for when the next Storm comes!
Because they always do! :)

Storm Starter
Misty
Oh, our Misty is a sensitive little teardrop with a huge and tender heart!
Misty wells up so easily!
Above all, Misty loves helping others.
Bad things such as selfishness, bullying or harming others make Misty really sad.
Once Misty becomes sad, not even its yellow hanky can dry its tears!
Often, Misty wishes it would not feel so deeply about everyone and everything.
But our Misty is learning that it is ok to feel sad and that being sensitive is a huge strength, not a weakness.
Such tender hearts and tear drops must be loved and cherished with the utmost care.

Storm Starter
Raggie-Reggie
No matter what time of day, our Raggie-Reggie is always angry with something or at somebody!
No one can rant and rave, stomp and shout like our anger- tear, Raggie-Reggie!
Then, little horns grow on each side of its head and they blink furiously.
Just like the lights on a fire engine!
When everything gets too much,
Raggie-Reggie simply boils over and blows its top!
Often steam spills out of Raggie-Reggie's ears at the same time.
Just like a kettle!
It's wild!
Can we tame Raggie-Reggie at all??

Storm Starter
Jumpy
What a fearless, curious and mischievous teardrop our Jumpy is!!
Always climbing and swinging around outdoors.
But Jumpy is clumsy too!
That means many falls, bumps and boo-boos.
Jumpy loves band-aids and always wears them with great pride!
In time, Jumpy learns to be more careful and to check before leaping blindly.

Storm Starter
Whiny
Whiny, oh Whiiiinyyyy!!
Our Whiny is a very frustrated teardrop and still needs its dummy and a lollipop to soothe itself!
When Whiny doesn't get its way, it screams and shouts and whines and wails!
Yet often all Whiny needs, is food and sleep!
How can we train Whiny's temper?
Whiny is also best friends
with Raggie-Reggie.
Both love to hatch out plans on how to cause the most trouble!

Storm Starter
Timidy
Our Timidy is a very, very shy teardrop.
Timidy is afraid of everything - even its own shadow!
To protect itself, Timidy has grown long spikes on its forehead!
Little Timidy is learning that it is ok to feel fear.
All of us are afraid sometimes.
It takes great courage to face what scares us.
And often, once we brave it, we find it was not so scary after all!
Tiny Tia's journey -
meet C.D.

My name is Carina but my friends call me C.D.
Tiny Tia also visited me when I needed help!
We spent a lot of time together.
My feelings were like big, dark thunder clouds, blocking everything.
I could not even think clearly!
But with Tiny Tia by my side, I sat safely and shed many tears.
Crying helped me understand which of the dizzying Storm Starter rascals were upsetting me!
Only then, the clouds lifted and now I don't feel so angry and sad anymore.
One evening, after Manny Moon had climbed up high into the night sky, Tiny Tia told me all of her adventures.
Then she asked me to draw and write them down.
This way, we can all understand our Tears and Storm Starters better.
I have learned that I don't have to be afraid to cry or feel my emotions.
Because Tiny Tia and all our
Storm Starters are here to aid us, so we may learn from them.
Let our Tears flow, to go and grow! :)
Tia-tastic Facts
Tiny Tia is always on our side to help and guide us through the roller coaster of our big emotions.
Especially when we feel confused why we are crying.

But, how much do we know about our Tears?
Let's find out below!

Why do we cry?
Crying is an important part of expressing emotion and learning to communicate our feelings.
It is also a pain reliever.
Another reason we cry is to keep our eyes clean and healthy because tears clean them of dust.
At other times, our tears fall down because our eyes are irritated when we peel an onion for example.

Are all tears the same?
Actually no!
The tears, that keep our eyes healthy are called basal tears.
The tears we cry when peeling onions are called Reflex tears.
And finally, the third type of tears are our emotional tears.
Those are the ones we shed when we feel sad, angry, scared, are injured,
or - feel happy!
Those are our
Tiny Tia Tears. :)

What are our tears made of?
Tears are a clear liquid made by our body to clean and lubricate our eyes.
They are mostly water but also contain other oils, salt, more than 1500 proteins, bicarbonate, chloride and potassium and tiny amounts of magnesium and calcium.
They also have chemicals called enzymes that kill germs which may get into our eyes.

How do our tears protect our body?
Tears keep our eyes wet and smooth and help focus light so you can see clearly.
They also protect our eyes from infections and irritating things, like dirt and dust that can get in there.
Shedding emotional tears releases oxytocin and endorphins.
These are chemicals that ease our physical and emotional pain.
So you could say tears relieve us of pain. :)

Is crying good for us?
Yes!!
Tears communicate our emotions to others.
Crying often connects people, whether it's out of grief, sadness, love, passion, happiness or another strong emotion.
Crying also has a soothing effect on our bodies.
Research shows that crying triggers a response that helps us relax.

How much do we cry?
When we cry, we make more tears than the eye can hold.
This is because the largest tear gland can switch on and produce a lot of tears at once, just like a little fountain.
But normally they only produce a tiny amount of tears – less than half a teaspoon per day.
Did you know - When we are crying really hard, we can produce as much as half a cup of tears in just a few minutes!
But we will never run out of tears, no matter how much we cry. :)
